CHECK-UP
Check-ups are a part of every exam here at Madison Companion Animal Hospital. We encourage our clients to use preventative measures. So check-ups give our doctors a chance to look over your pet and let you know about any changes in your pet's skin, coat, eyes, etc. before there is a problem. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
PREVENTIVE MEDICINE
Our job is to help you prevent disease as well as treat it. Equally important is the early detection of disease. We recommend annual physical examinations, immunizations, and routine dental exams. You will receive periodic reminders when boosters are due for your pet. We also recommend a "Senior's Exam" as your pet ages to help ensure a long, high quality life.
We acquire the latest tools and instruments as they become available so we can offer the most advanced diagnostic and treatment capablilities possible to our patients. Acquisition of Ultrasound-- This instrument provides a safe means of diagnosing internal disorders, analyzing tissues, and examination without invasive surgery. We now have "Telemedicine" which enables our hospital to contact specialists without traveling to outside facilities with your pet.
NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING
Your pet's nutrition is very important to your pet's health. If you would like to know more about what kind of diet is best for your companion please contact us with your questions.
DENTISTRY
Healthy teeth are one of the most important factors to having a healthy pet. We offer our clients Advanced Dentistry services. We use dental x-ray just like your dentist does. We scale and polish while your pet is under anesthesia so we know we can get most all the tartar off your pet's teeth. Sometimes diseased teeth are better off extracted. We also council you in the best preventative measures that are available for keeping your pet's teeth shiny and white after the cleaning. Call us to set up a FREE dental exam.
PHARMACY
We carry a full line of prescription products here in our pharmacy. We also carry Frontline, Advantage, Advantix, Program, Heartgard Plus, Interceptor, and Sentinel for our client's convenience.
LABORATORY
A full in house laboratory is available here at Madison Companion Animal Hospital. We can run bloodwork here and have results in minutes. This is important for presurgical workups or in the case of a sick patient in need of immediate treatment.
RADIOLOGY
ULTRASOUND
SURGERY
Surgery is performed in a sterile, fully equipped surgical suite with modern anesthesia, respiratory and cardiac monitors and a heated surgery table that is so vital to our smaller patients. We perform elective surgeries, spaying and neutering, as well as medically indicated soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. A pulse oximeter is used to better monitor anesthesia. It reads the oxygen level of the patient, which is the most accurate assessment of status while asleep. Also, an ultrasound doppler monitor is used to enable us to monitor blood pressure.
We are the first veterinary hospital in Madison County to use LASER surgery, and acceptance has been so high that the scalpel has largely been replaced.
Our new Laser reduces or eliminates sutures, post-treatment pain, swelling and bleeding. This procedure is safe and we recommend it for almost all of our surgeries. In addition, Laser cosmetic surgery is remarkable for the new options it opens for your pets: droopy eyelids or growths on the skin. Removal is possible without general anesthesia!
